PT Perkasa Agung Sejati (PAS) the largest producer of feed in Eastern Indonesia, recently opened and began operations of its new feed mill. The feed mill located in Makassar Industrial Estate, South Sulawesi in East Indonesia was inaugurated by the Governor of South Sulawesi, Syahrul Yasin Limpo.
Commissioner of PAS, Mr Iwan Subroto, said that the feed mill, strategically located in Eastern Indonesia, was in an area of rapid development with cheap transport that will allow the company to better distribute their products throughout the region.
According to Iwan, in the last 5 years the poultry industry has grown strongly with an increased demand from a growing population in the province. Currently there are an estimated 7.8 million laying hens and 21.8 million broiler chickens. There means there is a strong demand for poultry feed.
Iwan said South Sulawesi is a fertile area, with almost all agricultural seed products thriving in South Sulawesi.Corn a main raw material in feed was abundant in the area.
Poultry production is marketed not only in the province but also to Southeast Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, Maluku, Ambon and Papua.
Currently South Sulawesi requires 600,000 tonnes per year of animal feed. Not only South Sulawesi, but all provinces in eastern Indonesia have a demand for animal feed, Governor Sulsel, Syahrul Yasin Limpo said.
