The Minnesota Grain and Feed Association, which represents the country grain elevator and feed mill industry in Minnesota, will be celebrating its centennial convention and trade show February 8-10, 2007 at the Hilton Minneapolis Hotel.
The convention will feature an array of industry speakers, a variety of entertainment options and a very diverse trade show of over 90 exhibits.
The country grain elevator industry in Minnesota employs nearly 11,000 citizens, handles over 2.3 billion bushels of grain annually, does approximately $7 billion in sales annually and pays approximately $125 million per year in taxes.
There are currently 600 country elevator operating locations in Minnesota, owned by 380 firms.
There are also nearly 600 feed mill operating locations in the State, with some being stand alone facilities, while many are affiliated with a local country elevator.
The average feed mill sells over 26,000 tons of feed per year, with an annual sales volume of over $3.5 million.
The country grain elevator and feed mill industry has been and continues to be, a major economic force in rural Minnesota.
