Work starts on Sao Mai Group USD$20 million aquafeed plant

This morning a ground breaking ceremony was held to mark the start of construction of Vietnamese aquaculture company, Sao Mai Group's new USD$20 million aquafeed plant. The ceremony took place at the site of feed mill at Vam Cong industrial complex, Binh Thanh commune, Lap Vo district, Dong Thap province, Vietnam.

The feed mill will produce aquatic feed for the group's own use, and have a production capacity of 60 tonnes per hours / 360,000 tonnes per year. Capacity is projected to be enough to meet demand for aquatic food farming areas of Sao Mai Group for the next 5 years.

"In terms of power concentration, this is one of the few factories specialising in fish feed in the country with a total investment value of more than $ 20 million," Mr Cheung Wing-sing, Deputy General Director of Sao Mai Group, said.

The feed plant will feature a modern state of the art design, with technological systems and advanced equipment from suppliers such as Stolz (France), Andritz (Denmark), and Famsun (China). The plant will have a total investment of about VND500 billion (~USD$20 million) and meet international requirements for operation.

The Binh Thanh feed mill will be Sao Mai's 5th and is expected that the plant will be operation in May 2017.
