India’s largest milk co-op, Amul, is looking to increase it’s current feed production capacity with the building of a new cattle feed mill in Kapadiya village, Kheda district in Gujarat state.
The new plant is to have a production capacity of 720,000 tonnes per year, and will join Amul’s 12 currently operating cattle feed mills. Amul currently has a feed production capacity of 7,000 MT of cattle feed every day, supplying feed to the 1,200 milk cooperatives in the state.
The new feed mill will cost an estimated USD$30 million and will be state-of-the-art with feed machinery for the feed mill imported from Germany.
Featuring a fully automated feed production line, it will be the first of it’s kind in the country. To be located on a 19 acre plot of land in Gujarat state, the feed mill will supply farmers in Gujarat, neighbouring states as well as possible exports.
The feed mill is estimated to be completed and operation by October this year.
