The United States Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service reports that for the week ending November 26, 2006, 97% of the 2006/07 U.S. corn crop has been harvested, compared to 94% the previous week, 99% a year ago and the five-year average of 98%. Most of the major growing states have completed activity or are very close, but large parts of the Eastern Cornbelt remain behind average due to wetter than normal conditions.

94% of the winter wheat crop has emerged, up 2% from the prior week, steady with last year and 1% more than average. Similar to this year's corn and soybean harvests, the development of the crop in the Eastern Midwest has been hampered by above normal precipitation. The crop is in 53% good to excellent condition, down 4% from last week and only 1% above last year's crop.

For sorghum, 94% of the crop has been harvested, compared to 89% the week ending November 19, 95% a year ago and 92% on average. Most of the major producing states have wrapped up activity and those that haven't are at or ahead of the average pace.

This is the final national crop progress update scheduled for release by the NASS in 2006.
