Indian feed manufacturers Agocon's Agro Products have inaugurated their new poultry and cattle feed pellet plants at their production site in Changangei Uchekon, Tabungkhok Road Imphal. At the inauguration, Social Welfare & Co-operation Minister, AK Mirabai Devi, Ex-Minister L Jayentakumar Singh and Superintendent of Police, Bishnupur District Thokchom Radheshyam Singh, IPS attended as chief guest, president and guest of Honour respectively.
The first of its kind in the State the feed plant is expected to at least address the problem of poultry and cattle feeds shortages, an issue familiar with Manipur whenever disruption is caused to transportation of goods.
Noting that in the last few years number of meat consumers as well as livestock farmers have gone up substantially, Minister Mirabai said setting up of the poultry and cattle feeds plant would further boost the State's economy.
She also observed that increase in the number of small time poultry farmers testify that the present generation are determined to live a respectable life through self employment ventures.
At the inauguration, Dr SK Khana Retd, Poultry Disease & Investigation Officer, Ambala, Govt of Haryana explained the benefits and advantages of pelleted compound feed the attendees at the inauguration.
