China moved closer to its goal of becoming self-sufficient in pork production, with the opening of a new feed mill in Gaoming, Foshan.
After nine months of preparation, the new pig feed mill belonging to Gaoming Tongwei Feed Co. opened last month at a total investment of RMB 50 million (USD$8 million).
The feed production facility is built on a 3.335 hectares plot of land, with the feed mill consisting of 3 production lines. It has a production capacity of 200,000 tonnes per annum.
Production manager, Zhanghai Min told FeedMachinery.com that all production equipment is based on the latest research and development, with many parts being customized by the manufacturer to fit their needs.
With the new feed productin plant, Gaoming Tongwei will be able to supply pig feed to surrounding areas, including the major pig breeding areas in Guangdong province: Foshan, Jiangmen, Yunfu and Zhaoqing.
Tongwei is one of China's leading aquatic feed manufacturer, while the company has been involved in the sales of pig feed, it's new Gaoming Tongwei division is its first division that specializes in pig feed production.
In the future, Tongwei are also planning the possible construction of another another pig feed plant at Qingyuan, in north-western Guangdong Province. The Chinese province is home to a thriving livestock industry as well as a competitive feed market.
