This week brings TWO short courses to the International Grains Program Conference Center. One being the Buhler Executive Milling short course lead by two of Grain Science and Industry’s new faculty members! John Steinfort, Buhler Adjunct Instructor and Shawn Thiele milling operations manager, are teaching this year’s Buhler course. Co-teaching this course is Tobias Nanny who is also the Buhler Training Center manager in Switzerland.
With 15 participants stretching from Canada to Tanzania, the course is very diverse making a great networking opportunity for participants and instructors. Participants will attend the course from November 5-9, 2012 and cover basic flour milling principals from class workshops and hands on activities.
Everyday the participants will have the chance to journey to the Hal Ross Mill or Shellenberger Hall to put their knowledge to the test. The milling laboratories will give attendees the opportunity to learn about purifiers, different milling machinery, proper cleaning procedures, and the design of milling.
The group is going to be very busy the next four days, but should be able to take away a lot of knowledge to apply in their own operations and businesses!
Along with the Buhler Executive Milling Course, IGP is also hosting Establishing a HACCP Program for the Feed Industry Workshop. That course is scheduled for November 5-8, 2012.
