More than half the employees of Blue Seal's feed mill in Bow, were laid of from work today, as the operators plan to move it's bagged feed production line to Vermont.
The feed plant located in Bow on Route 3A, is set to discontinue in the manufacturing of bagged feed, and will proceed to only operate its bulk feed line and retail shop.
The move was made to improve efficiency in its supply chain, a spokesperson for the company said.
Feed mill workers were given advance notice regarding the relocation and offered the opportunity to move with the line to the company’s plant in Richford, Vt.
The Blue Seal feed plant in Bow has been in operation since 1941 and was taken over by parent company Kent sometime in the late 1980s.
